Mantserre Primary School

A good school starts with a safe, functional place to learn. In many rural and under-resourced communities, school buildings directly affect teaching, learning and learner wellbeing.
Why the school needed support
Before Dikuno’s support, Mantserre Primary School worked under difficult conditions. Staff shared cramped office space, meetings were held wherever room could be found, Grade R learners used classrooms not designed for early childhood learning, and the school nutrition programme ran from a converted classroom.
Dikuno invested in infrastructure that makes the school more functional, safer and more supportive for learners, educators and staff. The project was designed to improve the buildings and to strengthen the school’s ability to deliver quality education in a safe and dignified environment.
I have my own office, and I have privacy. We have a sick bay and reception, and everyone is happy, even the teachers are happy. The Grade R teacher is also very happy because the Grade R classroom has toilets specifically for Grade R learners as well as a spacious playground.

The impact reaches parents and former learners too. Boikhanyo Chirwa, a former learner who now works at the school and has three children enrolled there, has seen the school as a learner, a parent and an employee: “The donations have made things in life easier. This even gives the children hope that when things develop like this, they can succeed and be okay.”
The Mantserre Primary School project reflects Dikuno’s broader approach: investing in community assets that improve learning conditions today while helping to build opportunity for the future.
